It could be said I have an overabundance of t-shirts. This despite the fact I routinely purge them every five to ten years. All those heavy-metal concert shirts from the ’80s? Gone. All my theatre shirts from the ’90s? Gone. Well, hm, wait, a stash of them has been discovered in an old dresser at the lake. Do I toss them out? What a sartorial dilemma. I only have one torso…
Now, of course, thanks to clever folks like the people at Last Exit To Nowhere, there are t-shirts that any movie geek or monster nerd will salivate over. Want the obscure logo for the company that “builds better worlds” in Aliens? Official tee of The Slaughtered Lamb pub in An American Werewolf in London? Now they can be yours. And I’ve already bought too many of them. (My favourite, as well as that of my wife and daughters: the glow-in-the-dark Venkman Stantz Spengler shout-out to Ghostbusters.)
And what’s not to love about a souvenir from Santa Carla (The Lost Boys) or The Winchester Tavern (Shaun of the Dead)?
But this isn’t mere product placement. If you like aliens, werewolves or zombies, Last Exit is a great site – but it’s not your only option.
There’s also a clever take on the familiar Subway logo and slogan, available from T-Shirt Bordello.
And one of my favourites, even though it’s not a great-looking shirt, is a dead-on replica of the tee worn by Ricco Ross as Pvt. Frost in Aliens. The sentiment captures the overconfidence of the Colonial Marines in that movie. It’s also darkly funny in its own right.
There are some other tees out there, such as this riff on Ghostbusters, but for some reason didn’t quite do it for me.
I’m sure there are some gems out there I’ve missed, but I’m always on the lookout. After all, some of my old tees are getting past the ten-year mark…
UPDATE: In case you were salivating over the “Peace through superior firepower” tee seen in the top image, worn by Pvt. Frost in Aliens, let me say a) you are a huge geek and b) you can now get that shirt from Last Exit to Nowhere.

I would love a Santa Carla tee. Also with all the book promo t-shirts I get at work I’d love to have one for “Tobin’s Spirit Guide”, it would go well with my Miskatonic University shirt. “Go Fightin’ Tentacles!”

When I get my tax return back, I plan to make an order to Last Exit… just sayin’, in case you want to save on shipping.
